| HOW WE DO IT |
| A stump is the part of a tree which grows beneath the ground;
the root cluster and main trunk. Occasionally a tree needs to be removed,
be it due to disease, weather damage, or landscaping needs.
Once the tree is removed, the stump must also be removed,
and the best way is to grind it into mulch.
Digging, pulling, or DYNAMITE (Heaven forbid!) are all time consuming,
laborious, labor intensive, and not to mention……DANGEROUS!
A stump is professionally removed by, you guessed it,
a Stump Grinder. This equipment is gas powered and has a large
cutter wheel with carbide-tipped teeth, which grinds the wood
into mulch. It is very efficient and rapidly completes the job,
often in less than one hour for a stump 24" to 36" in diameter,
and to a depth of 12" to 14." Our larger equipment can be backed
right up to the stump and is operated hydraulically. For those
difficult access areas we use a portable grinder, able to fit
through a 31" opening. If the stump is up a flight of stairs or in a
raised flowerbed, it would still be no problem; we use ramps to gain access.
The mulch is then put back into the hole where the stump used
to be, and a meticulous cleanup of the area is completed. What
is left is a pile of mulch where the stump used to be, which will
then begin settling into the ground almost immediately. You may often
plant grass or other landscaping in the same location!
